Sir Paul was the first Archbishop and Governor-General of New Zealand of Maori descent and was a guest at Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appduring Holy Week this year, where he addressed congregations and spent time in reflection with Trinity students.
The memorial service was led by: Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appChaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe; Fellow of Trinity College, one time Archbishop of Brisbane and Governor General of Australia, the Rt Revd Peter Hollingworth AC, OBE; and Chaplain of the Maori Anglican Congregation, Altona, the Revd Victor Wilson.
Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appreceived the Maori congregation with an official welcome ceremony, which was then followed by evensong in the Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appChapel and dinner in the Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appDining Hall.
Ãâ·Ñ»ÆÉ«appChaplain, the Revd Dr Andreas Loewe, said the memorial service provided a wonderful opportunity for the College to come together with the Maori community and remember an outstanding preacher and friend of the College.
‘Sir Paul was an incredible communicator; he related his experiences with God with his own life and through this he encouraged others to think more deeply about their faith,’ Andreas said.
